Why I Started Product Bridge

I love helping people.

I could leave the blog post with just that first sentence. It's simple, it's straightforward, and doesn't require extra fluff.. It meets all of the requirement definitions for an MVP post. (That's a PM joke.)

But I'm sure you want more details than that.

I created Product Bridge for 2 main reasons:

  1. I love helping people, and I want to help as many people as I can.

  2. Product Management is still a new practice, and it needs people who are willing and able to help.

I was part of a startup that was acquired by a private equity firm. When this PE firm came in, they had their own consultants swoop in and help every area of the business. There were Engineering consultants that analyzed developer efficiency and productivity. There were Finance consultants that helped with systems and metrics to measure to the business. There were Marketing consultants that analyzed our sales funnels and marketing tech stack. There were Sales consultants that brought their own best practice playbooks and revenue forecasting models.

And of course, there were Product Management Consultants that helped with prioritization frameworks, ROI models, and organizational design ideas.

I thought to myself... why did it take us being acquired to get this kind of help?

There are many companies and individuals that could use the type of help that the PE firm's consultants were offering, but they simply didn't have access to them until they became part of the firm's portfolio. Given my experience and background, I believe I can democratize that type of help and make it available to whoever needs it.
